Welcome to the Hands of Compassion

The Hands of Compassion ministry provides a place of healing, comfort, spiritual support, and love for those being treated at the Mayo Clinic.

What is the Hands of Compassion?

The Hands of Compassion ministry was established in 1979 for patients coming to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in order to provide free housing and support in close proximity to the clinic. It has also become known as The House of Compassion because it consists of two large houses where Mayo Clinic patients can stay and receive loving support as they are being treated. Mayo Clinic is known all over the world for state-of-the-art medical care for patients with difficult health conditions. Consequently, our guests are often burdened physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially as they navigate their health challenges. The houseparents and the chaplain of the Houses of Compassion are available to assist our guests as they face these many stressful uncertainties.
