The House of Compassion provides the following services:
Convenient Housing
Houses are within walking distance to Mayo Clinic, Saint Mary’s Hospital and other Mayo medical facilities. The typical stay given normal Mayo Clinic schedules is one week, but exceptions for longer stays are evaluated and reviewed based on availability and guest needs. Extended stays are based on changes or extenstions of treatment schedules with Mayo.
Comfortable Bed
Standard accommodation is for the patient and a caregiver. Most rooms have a queen sized bed but some rooms have an additional twin bed or can accommodate a rollaway bed based on availability. Some rooms have other capabilities that are indicated on the Request For Housing. If HOC cannot accommodate a patient’s needs, our Hospitality Ministers can provide recommendations for other housing,
Kitchen
Guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen, a guest pantry and refrigerator space, light continental breakfast, and a dining area.
Easy Parking
Guests have access to private parking (one space per guest).
Community
A common space is provided for TV, games, puzzles, conversations, relaxing, and weekly ice cream socials. In addition, there is WiFi, shared laundry for limited use, and elevator access to most rooms.
Chaplain Services
HOC has a full time chaplain available for hospital and Clinic visitation. Spiritual and emotional support is also provided by our Hospitality Ministers who reside in the houses.
